Why Penguin Suits?
In 1992, I had my first child and moved to Texas from New York. Back then few people had their own personal computers and the internet was brand new. I thought there were no cool clothes for boys, so I hand painted a cute little onesie to look like a little penguin, complete with matching socks and a little tail that would sit on the diapered bottom. There was nothing cuter than watching that diaper waddle away. When I took my son Drew, who is now in his twenties and married, to my first mom’s club meeting, everyone wanted their own favorite animal outfits for their kids - lions, tigers, and bears… - and Penguin Suits was born. I made my first website with ColdFusion on my husband’s work computer. I would work at night, when Drew was sleeping. I launched my first website and the first www.penguinsuits.com in the spring of 1993. I sold clothes to customers as far away as Germany, and all over the San Antonio area. After my daughter Cecilie was born, while she was in preschool, I took a refresher on all the computer classes available. Shortly after she started kindergarten, I opened the doors of Penguin Suits, Inc. I incorporated on April 1, 2001. I did it that day as kind of a joke, but I was deadly serious about focusing on helping businesses marketing themselves. I knew if they succeeded, I would be a success!
